PID Characteristic Measurement System
This trainer kit introduces the concepts of proportional, integral and derivative parameters measurement . The configurations are studied using industrial based instrumentation such as a microprocessor based controller, paperless recorder and precision function generator.
To simulate realistic responses a process simulator is used to mimic process gains and time delays
The students will be exposed the following learning objectives listed below. Each of these objectives will be achieved with various relevant experimental procedures.
Learning Objectives:
To test proportional control using a step input
2. To test proportional –integral control using a step input
3. To test proportional – derivative control using step input
4. To see effects of various combinations of P, I, and D
5. To study gain and time constant of processes.
6. To study close loop tuning of process using Ziegler-Nichols Method
7. To familiarize with cascade control
8. To familiarize with feed forward control
9. To familiarize with Ratio control
10. Study various output controls for final element control eg ON/OFF control, Voltage proportional , Continuous Control.
